ELECTRICAL SHORT

December 26, 2009
At 1058 hrs, units were alerted for the electrical fire at 995 Old Route 30 in Franklin Twp (Box 4-2). The initial dispatch indicated that the residents were unable to evacuate one elderly family member. Lieutenant 4 (Six) arrived on the scene to confirm all occupants were out of the structure and that the fire had been extinguished by a resident. An electrical outlet in the dining room had shorted out and caught the curtains on fire, which had been extinguished prior to fire dept arrival preventing any further spread. The box was quickly reduced to Company 4 units and the ambulance only. Some minor overhaul was completed in the area surrounding the receptacle to ensure no extension and the area was further checked with the TIC. Company 4 operated on the scene with 18 personnel and cleared at 1145 hrs after the fire marshal (FM1) completed his investigation.
