6 RUNS TO START OFF THE MONTH

August 1, 2010
The first day of the new month proved to be a busy one by Company 4 standards with a total of 6 runs, including 3 vehicle accidents, 2 automatic fire alarms, and 1 engine transfer.

ONE FLOWN FROM HERR'S RIDGE ACCIDENT

August 3, 2010
Cumberland Twp
Box Area 1-4
At 1010 hrs, Company 5, Engine 4-3, Rescue 1, Ambulances 1A and 6A, and Medic 28-1 were dispatched to Mummasburg Rd and Belmont Rd in Franklin Twp (Box Area 5-1) for a vehicle accident with entrapment. As units were checking up on the air, Adams County Control provided a corrected address of Herr's Ridge Rd between Mummasburg Rd and Chambersburg Rd. All units were held on the call. Captain 1 (Wasylyk) arrived to find a single vehicle off the roadway, overturned with one patient still inside and established command. A second rescue squad was requested, bringing Rescue 6 to the scene. E4-3 (FF Brown) arrived with three personnel and was assigned to assist with the extrication and pull a hoseline. ALS requested air medical to the scene and Stat Medevac was landed in an adjacent field. Co 4 personnel assisted with transferring the patient to the aircraft, and after assisting Company 1 with picking up, E4-3 returned available at 1059 hrs.

2010 ACVESA CONVENTION

August 7, 2010
This year's annual Adams County Volunteer Emergency Services Association (ACVESA) convention was hosted by York Springs. Cashtown dumped the station for the parade on Saturday afternoon and made an excellent showing.

The Department received two awards following the parade:
- SQUAD 4: Best Appearing and Most Functional Rescue - 2nd Place
- ENGINE 4-3: Best Appearing and Most Functional In County Engine Pre-1989 - 2nd Place

Thanks to all who helped to prepare the apparatus for the parade and for taking the afternoon to participate in the parade. A huge thanks also goes out to the Cumberland Valley Hose Company from Shippensburg for covering our first due area with Engine 53 and a crew of 4 personnel.

Units: B4, E4-3, SQ4, E4-1
