SMOKE IN THE BUILDING

January 2, 2010

Engines 4-1 and 4-3 were dispatched at 1216 hrs for smoke in the building at Fellowship Baptist Church, 110 Mount Hope Rd. Company 2 units arrived on the scene and investigated to find a shorted out fan motor in the bathroom. Command held the box to Company 2 units only. E4-1 and E4-3 were placed in service while responding at 1226 hrs.

VEHICLE ACCIDENT ON U.S. ROUTE 30

January 12, 2010

Box Area 4-2
Company 4, Rescue 1, Amb 2A, and Medic 28-1 were dispatched to the 4500 block of Chambersburg Rd for a vehicle accident at 1601 hrs. Initial reports from Adams County Control indicated a head-on collision involving multiple patients with one in the roadway. Based on the information provided, M28-1 requested two additional ambulances, bringing Ambulances 1A and 6A. SQ4 and E4-1 arrived back to back to find two passenger cars involved with one patient self-extricated and being tended to by bystanders. Witnesses advised the occupants of the other vehicle fled the scene. Amb 2A transported one patient and Amb 1A and 6A were placed in service.

ENTRAPMENT IN BUCHANAN VALLEY

January 20, 2010

Box Area 27-1
Squad 4 was dispatched at 1657 hrs along with Company 27 to the 200 block of Church Rd for a vehicle accident with entrapment. SQ4 responded with 7 and the Deputy Chief. Company 27 arrived on the scene confirming dispatch and began extricating the entrapped victims. Upon arrival, SQ4 was instructed to prepare to roll the dash but was not needed as the 27 units completed the extrication. SQ4 staged for a short time before returning available at 1725 hrs.

   


THREE INJURED IN U.S. ROUTE 30 CRASH

January 24, 2010

Box Area 4-1
Company 4, Rescue 1, Ambulance 1A, and Medic 28-1 were dispatched at 1158 hrs to the intersection of Chambersburg Rd and Fairview Fruit Rd for a vehicle accident. Assistant Chief 4 (Mayers) arrived to find a two-vehicle collision with one down a small embankment with multiple patients and requested a second transport unit, bringing Ambulance 2A. Company 4 assisted EMS with patient care and packaging and checked for hazards. Two patients were transported by Amb 1A and one patient by Amb 2A to area hospitals. PA State Police were on the scene to investigate.

HEAVY RAIN CAUSES FLOODING CONDITIONS

January 25, 2010
A long, steady rain caused flooding conditions throughout the area Monday morning. The day started with a pump detail at 0656 hrs, followed by an odor investigation at 0811 hrs at 309 Sunset Rd in Franklin Twp (Box Area 4-3). E4-1 and SQ4 arrived to find an activated septic alarm and septic odor in the basement which were caused by the large amounts of standing water in the area. Units cleared the investigation at 0830 hrs and handled another pump detail at 1014 hrs. One additional pump detail was handled at 1858 hrs to close out the day.
