DRILL NIGHT - HYDRANT TESTING AT KNOUSE FOODS

July 2, 2012
Training this month involved testing the hydrant system at the Knouse Foods plant in Orrtanna to become more familiar with the layout of the system and to check pressure and volume capacities. It should be of particular interest to all first alarm companies (4, 2, 1, 5, 27) that Engine 4-1 was able to flow 1,000-gpm while at idle with approximately 100 psi of residual pressure on all of the hydrants as shown in the picture below. It is also important to note that the hydrant system is tied into the fire alarm system and will trip a water flow alarm anytime any of the hydrants are used.

Units: E4-1
